Anna Kolano, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician. She is an advocate for early literacy and reading to children. She feels privileged to care for children as they grow.
Why I Treat Children
I always knew I wanted to be a doctor, but I didn鈥檛 know what kind of doctor I wanted to become. I enjoyed my pediatrics rotation so much that choosing to be a pediatrician was ultimately an easy decision.
What I'm Passionate About
I鈥檓 passionate about newborn care. There鈥檚 so much education that needs to happen for new parents. It鈥檚 such a special time for the family, especially if it鈥檚 a first child. I feel privileged that parents have chosen me to be a part of that experience. Parents don鈥檛 often have the family support that they might have had 50 years ago, so they really rely on their family doctor for information.I鈥檓 privileged to do what I do; I love my job every day. I have been with Nemours since 1996. Some of my former patients, now all grown up, are choosing me as their children鈥檚 pediatrician. It鈥檚 incredible! I鈥檝e made such an impact on these people as children that they鈥檙e willing to trust their babies to me. I love that I can provide continuity of care within families.
How I Try to Make A Difference
I鈥檓 an advocate for early literacy education and reading to your children. I鈥檓 part of the Reach Out and Read program in our office.Also, I do my best to support a new mother in her efforts to breastfeed.
