Get to Know Me

Dr. Jason E. Boye is a pediatric psychologist, practicing in two areas — weight management and primary care. He is a member of the Physician informatics Team, and is a clinical assistant professor at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.

Why I Treat Children

I have always wanted to work with children, teens and families, and was drawn to psychology as a way to promote positive and healthy moods, behaviors and lifestyles. I love looking at the world from a child’s perspective, and am passionate about helping them live the best life possible.

What I'm Passionate About

I am passionate about helping children, teens and families, and providing motivation to live a healthy lifestyle. I try to provide brief, focused treatment to get to the heart of the matter and get kids and teens successfully on their way. I love meeting new people and the families of the children I see.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I treat each child, teen and family as unique and as individuals. I try to identify potential problems that a child might face at as young an age as possible to help diminish the long-term negative impact. I also pay attention to the positives and strengths of each child or teen and their family members to better understand them all. Whether I am working in the weight management setting or in the primary care office, I make sure that children, teens and families are connected with all of the team members and resources they might need. We all work as a team (with the family and among our own staff) to tackle the goals that are important to the family. I also participate in and am a member of professional psychology organizations, such as the American Psychological Association, Society of Pediatric Psychology and the Delaware Psychological Association.

Research Activities

My research focuses on quality improvement in the delivery of primary care, and I collaborate on weight management research projects. We're piloting the Treating Obesity Together (TOTs) program for children 2–5 years of age with BMI percentile at or above 95 percent, using psychologists in primary care to complete a diagnostic evaluation and an intervention session aimed at teaching effective parenting strategies.
