Get to Know Me
I grew up in Puerto Rico, and even as a teen I knew I wanted to cure others, especially children. I love kids. I enjoy getting to know them and their families, and helping them heal from the affects pain can have on quality of life. Pain is more than just a symptom – it reaches beyond the physical and can impact a child’s relationships with friends and family, and school success. My goal is to restore a child’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being using a variety of rehabilitation therapies in addition to medication.
Why I Treat Children
While I always knew I wanted to be a pediatrician, it wasn’t until medical school that I discovered all of the different specialties available to me. I started out in pediatric surgery, but after a few years, I found that I wanted to spend more time with my patients and families than I could in a surgical setting. I love that I can combine my passion for pain management and pediatrics to help kids of all ages.
What I'm Passionate About
I enjoy helping people in need. Ever since college I’ve regularly volunteered in adult and pediatric medical missions in places like Africa, Haiti, Ecuador, and Guatemala. I also work with Global Smile, an organization that provides cleft care and surgery to children in countries in Latin America, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent.
How I Try to Make A Difference
Sharing what I know is important to me. As a physician dual-certified in pain management and anesthesiology, I’ve helped grow exceptional pediatric pain management programs and I often present my knowledge and experiences to medical peers in other cities and countries for the benefit of children outside of my care.
