Program Details

The fellowship is designed to conform to the Houston Conference guidelines on training and education and prepare the candidate for board certification in clinical neuropsychology through ABPP/ABCN. The fellow will be involved in clinical work through both the general outpatient services and some directed clinical experiences. The outpatient program primarily receives referrals from medical providers within the hospital, such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, although we also receive referrals from pediatricians, schools and mental health providers. Referral questions address differential diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of patients with neurological, medical, developmental or psychiatric issues. The fellow will be involved in specific clinical experiences, such as Hematology/Oncology, Rehabilitation, Concussion, Cardiology, etc. To ensure that the fellow receives a high level of clinical training in pediatric neuropsychology, our program provides clinical experience (70%), research experience (20%) and didactic experiences (10%). Fellows will receive a minimum of 2 hours of supervision per week and participate in clinical group supervision. There is also an opportunity for tiered/umbrella supervision. Other opportunities for more informal supervision also exist. The program has an emphasis on professional development that is achieved through teaching, didactic seminars and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as working toward competence in cross-cultural practice. Nemours, as an enterprise, is committed to the D.R.I.V.E. Strategy (Diversity, Anti-Racism, Inclusion, Value and Equity), and the fellow will be involved in a monthly diversity seminar and specific grand rounds in diversity and cultural competence. Although not an APPCN program, we will be participating in the match process through the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN).
